What is the catalyst for this initiative?
As a model regional medical and trauma center we are no stranger to innovation. We have a responsibility to our patients and our community to remain at the forefront in capturing, accessing and managing patient health data. This program will provide a cohesive framework to connect and communicate essential patient-related information to enable our multidisciplinary healthcare teams to make more informed decisions within a shorter period of time.
How unique is this new EMR system?
YRMC will be only the 3rd healthcare organization in the state of Arizona to implement the EPIC solution. Electronic medical record systems are at the core of patient care. With the integration of EPIC, we will be working with the nation’s #1 PM and EMR system. We will be investing over $70 million over five years for this acclaimed solution – a commitment in our patients and our community that we believe is worthy investment.

How many people will be hired for this new team?
New opportunities exist for over 40 individuals to join this ground floor, five-year implementation project. Current employees of YRMC are encouraged to consider these openings, plus we are conducting a recruiting search for EMR and IT experts from across the country. This team will consist of top-notch talent who have the ability to drive, create, change, manage, coordinate, and launch this incredible new system.
What type of positions are being offered?
The EMR project team includes Analysts, Database Administrators and a variety of clinical and business support positions. Most positions require a degree and 2+ years experience. Check out our website for specific position openings and requirements.
Is EPIC experience required or will training be provided?
We will be providing new hires with comprehensive, paid training at Epic’s headquarters in Wisconsin for qualified EMR and IT professionals who do not have specific EPIC experience. This incredible training program offers a unique and valuable career opportunity to gain leading skills, expertise and certification. We are offering training sessions in Wisconsin beginning March 15, 2010.
